CURIOSITY OF "LACRIMA DI MORRO D'ALBA" VINE
HISTORY
Thanks to the award of denomination of controlled origin in 1985, this wine has been able to continue and strengthen its quality improving it. If hadn’t been for the tradition and pride of some cellar of the Morro d’Alba territory, all the viti vinifera grapes stumps cultived with Lacrima vine would had been explanted in favor of others. The wine is known from far-off times: the first historical citation is done by Federico Barbarossa in 1167 during the siege of Ancona. He choose Morro d’Alba walls as home and shelter. People were forced to give to the emperor the most good and delicious things, including Morro d’Alba grape juice. PRODUCTION
It is cultived in clayey/sandy hills, rich of minerals very permeables and deeps, except the valley bottom. In addition to the ground it is important the climate: Lacrima needs a good sunstroke, favorable temperature range and an adapted ventilation.
An important step was to change the installation and cultivation method because the most of installations had a tradition to”marry” the Lacrima to an alive tutor so a tree as maple, elm, or to timbers. In fact now they use a modern nurturance as Guyot or cordon SPERONATO.
Its name derives from the fact that when the acinus completed the maturing starts to weep crops of its juice.
From only 1 hectare in 1985 now the cultived area is 102 )in 2002), while the producers are growing up. They are testing the carbonic maceration and the late grape harvest reducing the contact with the peels so the withering during the vinification. WINE DESCRIPTION

It has a deep ruby deep with some purple reflections in the younger wines. The smell is winy, floral, fruit, and slightly spicy with felling of violet, geranium, raspberries, wild strawberry, blueberries, and a few spice of cloves. The taste is dry, hot, soft, fresh and young tannins. Wine with a good structure, quite balanced because thanks to the acidity it holds to the hardness but at the end closes with a return to floral and fruit perceived.
